Why I do this

          I am Chanaka de Silva. It was I who started and did the 'The Kennel Corner' in the Daily Island in June 2004 and ran it for a period of two years. During this period it became the most popular feature ever. It was also the first ever full page dog Feature to be run in a Daily newspaper anywhere. 

     With this page I helped and encouraged many of my readers to address their problems with respect to anything to do with dogs. Whether it is a health issue or training, diets, disease or the ever present problems the pure bred dog owners have with the clubs.

           As a service to 'dog kind' I was the first to give free space to anyone who wanted to give dogs for adoption. Those courages and kind people who pick up and care for the unwanted until homes are found for them. I am glad to say that through I have re-located all the cases we got except one.  As a result of this I have had the privilege to come into contact with many fine people who have all helped the cause of the Dog in several ways.

       It is sad to say that the page does no longer serve the purpose that I created it for and as a result it remains just a plug where a lot of downloaded material is published. The purpose of me starting this site is to reach out to my readers once again and all those who need the little help that I could give.  

      For that brief period I know that I did make a difference. Now I think the need for such a forum is here once again.

       It was during this period that I realized the damage done too many fine breeds by unscrupulous puppy farmers. I then decided that whatever I could to improve the quality of the dogs here I would do. Many of my readers and their friend have requested me to located quality dogs of various breeds and I have done my best to see that they are not dissappoi nted. For those who wish I personally select dogs and get them for them. In hope that one day we would once again see the finest specimens of these breeds here.

      As a measure of proof I encourage them to exhibit their dogs at shows and those who have have all won very well.

        All dog lovers know that we do not do enough to care for those who give us so much and ask so little in return.
